Uganda will host Rwanda for the 12th session of the Joint Permanent Commission, a bilateral meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
The talks, organized by Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with its embassy in Kigali, are scheduled for April 20–22, 2026, in Kampala.
Officials said the discussions will bring together representatives from more than 15 ministries and focus on key sectors of cooperation.
Uganda’s delegation will be led by State Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge of Regional Cooperation John Mulimba, while Rwanda’s team will be headed by State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Usta Kaitesi.
The meeting will take place at Mestil Hotel in Kampala and will include closed-door sessions between ministers from both sides before final resolutions are adopted and cooperation agreements signed.
According to Ambassador Richard Kabonero, Head of Regional Economic Cooperation at Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uganda, the agenda includes military and security cooperation, infrastructure development, immigration management, police collaboration and education.
Both sides are also expected to review progress on existing agreements and revisit issues discussed during the 11th session held in Kigali in 2023.
Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the talks will also explore new opportunities to deepen bilateral relations, boost trade and investment, and develop joint projects.
