Rwandan Ambassador to China James Kimonyo met with a delegation of Rwandan business leaders from various sectors, praising their efforts to explore investment and trade opportunities in the country.
The delegation included representatives from banking, construction, hospitality, transportation, and agricultural processing companies.
Processors of agricultural products have significant opportunities in the Chinese market. Earlier this month, the Rwandan Embassy in China signed agreements to facilitate the export of avocado seeds after Rwandan products gained popularity in the Asian country.
Rwandan coffee and chili peppers have also established a strong presence in China, earning recognition for their aroma.
Trade between Rwanda and China in Rwandan exports has surged, rising from $35 million in 2019 to $160.6 million in 2024, an increase of nearly 359%.
China is also among Rwanda’s top sources of foreign investment, reaching $460 million in 2024.
Rwanda and China have maintained a special relationship for more than 54 years across multiple sectors, aimed at improving the lives of citizens in both countries. Their cooperation spans healthcare, education, technical support in agriculture, capacity building, technology collaboration, and infrastructure development.
