Rwanda’s national air carrier, RwandAir has expanded its fleet with two new Boeing 737-800 aircraft and announced a 50% discount on weekend flights to all destinations until November 30, 2025.
The airline said the first aircraft arrived in early August and has already begun operating flights, while the second landed Tuesday night.
Each plane carries up to 174 passengers and will serve short- and medium-haul routes. The Boeing 737-800, produced in the United States, first entered the market in 1966. RwandAir also acquired its first cargo version, the Boeing 737-800SF, in late 2022, capable of carrying at least 23 tons of freight.
RwandAir’s cargo operations have grown steadily, transporting 6,113 tons in 2024, up from 4,595 tons in 2023. The airline plans to purchase another Boeing 737-800 to help transport agricultural products to markets. Its current fleet includes four Boeing 737-800NG, two Boeing 737-700NG, two CRJ900NG, two Bombardier Q-400NG, and two Airbus A330 aircraft.
In a weekend promotion, RwandAir is offering a 50% discount on tickets purchased for flights on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through its website or mobile app. The airline said the offer applies to travel to more than 23 international destinations, including Kigali, Paris, and Dubai. Customers must purchase tickets by September 14, 2025, to qualify, while travel must be completed by November 30.
“This weekend, your dream trip is half the price. Whether you want to head to the beach, explore a city, or take a last-minute getaway, we’ve reduced ticket prices by 50% for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday flights,” RwandAir said.
