Rwanda is participating in the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), which began Wednesday and runs through Aug. 22. The conference focuses on strengthening ties between African nations and Japan, with discussions centered on investment, economic growth, and initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and improving the welfare of citizens across Africa.
Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Olivier Nduhungirehe is representing the country at the conference. He is expected to play a key role in shaping decisions that will align development projects between Rwanda and Japan, particularly regarding a $1.5 billion investment initiative supported by the Japanese government and the private sector.
The partnership between Japan and Rwanda has a long history, with collaboration in areas such as education, agriculture, and energy, primarily through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). These efforts have helped drive progress in several key sectors.
What areas do you think could further strengthen the partnership between Rwanda and Japan?
