The US Dollar has  strengthened by approximately 1.4%, reaching 1,401.5960 against the Rwandan Francs, a rise of +16.5960 RWF for the day, On January 16, 2025, according  to the latest international market news.

This rise,  reflects a broader trend of the Dollar’s rise in recent days. Similarly, other major currencies, including the Euro and British Pound, saw gains against Rwandan Franc.

The Euro stands at 1,442.2000 RWF (unchanged for the day) and the British Pound at 1,714.1400 RWF, rising by 0.25% (+4.2780 RWF).

Analysits have said, this shift in exchange rates may have implications for trade and import prices in Rwanda, increasing costs for imports priced in USD, potentially impacting businesses and consumers.

“The recent surge in the US Dollar is largely driven by global inflationary pressures and economic policies from major central banks. While this may raise costs for imports, the long-term impact will depend on Rwanda’s economic resilience and adjustments in the local market.” They warn

Currency fluctuations are common, and rates can change rapidly.
