President Paul Kagame, the Commander in Chief of Rwanda’s security forces has commended the security personnel for their efforts of hard work and commitment throughout the year. In his end-of-year message, the President thanked all members of the military and security agencies for their ongoing efforts to protect the nation and maintain peace.

“As we close another year, I want to take this moment to sincerely thank you for your service to our country,” said President Kagame. “Your dedication, discipline, and professionalism have strengthened our nation’s values and security, both here in Rwanda and beyond, especially during difficult times.”

The president acknowledged that 2024 was a year of significant growth for Rwanda, particularly in terms of self-reliance. He highlighted the essential role the security forces played in making Rwanda a beacon of peace, security, and development, both regionally and globally.

“This year, we celebrated two important milestones: 30 years of Liberation and 20 years of contributing to UN peacekeeping missions,” he said. “These achievements show our commitment to building a peaceful and prosperous Rwanda while also contributing to global security.”

President Kagame also emphasized the crucial role that security forces play in advancing Rwanda’s interests and ensuring the well-being of its citizens. Their hard work, he said, is vital for the country’s continued stability.

“You have shown the values of Rwanda—working together, demonstrating discipline, and finding new solutions to the challenges that threaten our security,” he added.

Looking ahead to the new year, the president urged the security forces to remain vigilant and continue upholding the principles of integrity and accountability that define Rwanda’s security services. He called on them to stay prepared for evolving security challenges, with the goal of maintaining a secure, prosperous, and united Rwanda.

President Kagame also expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the line of duty, assuring them that their sacrifices would not be forgotten. “The nation will always be there for you,” he said.

In closing remarks, he wished all members of the security forces and their families a joyful holiday season and a successful new year. “On behalf of all Rwandans, the Government, and my family, I wish you and your families a peaceful and prosperous 2025,” he said.

The president commended the security forces for their dedication, noting that their contributions must always be respected and valued. He reflected on Rwanda’s transformation from a country torn by the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi to one that now plays a leading role in global peacekeeping efforts.

As Rwanda enters 2025, President Kagame expressed confidence in the security forces’ ability to continue upholding the nation’s security and ensuring a future of peace, progress, and unity.
