One killed, four injured in Gekenke road crash

One person has been killed while four are injured in a road crash accident in Gakenke district on Monday morning.

The crash involving a RAV 4 RAC 618G driven by Jean Damascène  Nkurunziza and  coaster with license plate RAB651l happened at Nyacyina Cell, Ruhore Village.

Eye witnesses who blame the driver for the RAV 4 carrying three occupants said he [driver] lost control because of over speeding crushing into the coaster.

The driver of RAV4 died on spot while three occupants got injured among them is a toddler aged one and half were transferred to Nemba hospital.

The spokesperson of the Rwanda Police in the Northern Province, Superintendent of Police (SP) Alex Ndayisenga, has told the media that they assume ‘failure to control speed’ as the cause of the accident.
