Two killed in Gakenke road accident

Two people died on spot during the fatal road accident in Gakenke district in the Northern Province at Kirenge-Rushashi road.

The accident which took place on Wednesday 04 January 2023 is reported to have been caused when an over speeding Daihatsu carrying food supplies lost brakes rolling over and killing the driver,  owner of the goods and injuring handyman.

According to witnesses, the speeding driver lost control of the vehicle carrying different goods at Ruganda and rammed into the side of the road crushing the vehicle in parts..

The Police Department of Road Safety is reported to have transported Nemba General Hospital while the handyman was taken to Muhondo Health Center to receive treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were identified as Innocent Ndayambaje the driver and Veneranda Nyirabarihima.

Earlier this week, Rwanda National Police (RNP) spokesperson John Bosco Kabera said that over the New Year weekend, eight serious accidents happened where four people died in accidents that occurred in different parts of the country between December 31 and January 2, while five others were seriously injured.
