Soraya Hakuziyaremye has been appointed Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda (BNR), replacing John Rwangombwa who had held the position since 2013, completing two terms.
Madam Hakuziyaremye joined the National Bank of Rwanda in 2021, succeeding Monique Nsanzabaganwa as Deputy Governor.
At the time, she was coming from the position of Minister of Trade and Industry, which she had held since 2018.
She has also held other senior-level positions, both in Rwanda and abroad, such as working at a bank in New York City, USA for four years in 2002, before spending six years at BNP Paribas Fortis in Belgium.
In Rwanda, Hakuziyaremye has also served as a senior advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MINAFFET).
The announcement from the office of the Prime Minister, also announced the appointment of Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva to the position of the Deputy Governor.
