Rwanda’s Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Mubarakh Muganga, On February 18, 2025, welcomed a delegation of 30 military officers from Nigeria. The delegation, representing the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), was led by retired Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab.

Gen. Muganga welcomed the group and highlighted the strong cooperation between Rwanda and Nigeria, especially in military training and peacekeeping. “We share a deep commitment to promoting peace and security. Together, we have played a significant role in UN peacekeeping missions and combating terrorism across the continent,” he said.

Col. David Mutayomba, who leads military education in Rwanda, briefed the Nigerian officers on Rwanda’s contributions to regional security and the country’s development.

Maj. Gen. Wahab explained that the visit’s main goal was to learn from Rwanda’s experience in military leadership and development. He noted that at NARC, they focus on training senior officers to lead effectively and tackle complex security issues.

During their stay, the delegation also visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Museum of the Liberation War, and the Military Hospital in Kanombe. These visits allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s history and its ongoing peacebuilding efforts.

This visit underscores the growing relationship between Rwanda and Nigeria, with both nations working together to build stronger defense forces and promote regional stability.
