Rwanda has been approved to host the 47th Conference of Ministers from countries that are part of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) in the coming year, 2025.

This decision was made by the ministers of the organization (CMF) on the evening of Thursday, October 3, 2024.

The Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Nduhungirehe Olivier, expressed his gratitude on Friday, October 4, 2024, through his social media platforms, thanking the ministers for their decision.

He stated, “I thank the Ministers of the Francophonie countries who gathered in Paris for the 46th Conference of Francophonie Ministers (CMF) for allowing Rwanda to host the 47th CMF, scheduled for next year.”

He continued to extend a warm welcome to members of the Francophonie community in Rwanda, saying, “The Francophonie community is always welcome in the Land of a Thousand Hills!”

Meanwhile, President Kagame and Madam Jeannette Kagame arrived in Paris, France, yesterday, Thursday, to attend the 19th OIF Summit, which brings together Heads of State and Government from countries that use the French language, La Francophonie.

OIF is an organization established in March 1970, and Rwanda has been a member since 1970.

Currently, the Secretary-General of the organization is Rwandan Louise Mushikiwabo, who was elected by the heads of the member states in October 2018 and began her duties in January 2019. She was re-elected for a second term in November 2022.

Currently, the organization comprises 88 countries, including 54 full member states, seven associate members, and 27 observers.
