Muhadjiri, a talented midfielder who was voted Rwandan Player of the Year in 2018, has signed a two-year contract after rejecting a deal with Police FC. The 30-year-old is a proven goalscorer, having netted nine times in the league last season.
Fitina, a defender who captained APR FC for two years, has also committed to a two-year deal at Rayon Sports. The 27-year-old played a key role in APR FC’s recent success, winning six league titles and one cup during his seven-year spell at the club.
Rayon Sports have moved quickly to address a right-back issue, with Fitina expected to fill the void left by the departing Serumogo Ally Omar. The club has also signed Burundian goalkeeper Jackson Lunanga and compatriots Frank and Fred, who impressed in the Burundian league last season.
The signings of Muhadjiri and Fitina are a major coup for Rayon Sports as they look to challenge APR FC for Rwandan domestic dominance. The two teams will go head-to-head on Saturday in the Umuhuro u Amahoro match, which will be the first game played at the new 45,000-seater Amahoro Stadium.
