Exactly seven months after being detained over allegations of rape, sexual harassment and soliciting or offering sexual favours against some of the contestants of Miss Rwanda, Dieudonné Ishimwe alias Prince Kid is acquitted on all charges.
Ishimwe, the CEO of Rwanda Inspirations Back Up, was the organizer of Miss Rwanda pageant, one of the most followed events in Rwanda. He was denied bail in June.
He was arrested on April 26 2022, and incarcerated in Nyarugenge Prison located Mageragere from 16th May 2022.
The Nyarugenge Intermediate Court on Friday 2022 ruled the release of Prince Kid, saying that the Prosecution did not present compelling evidence pinning him to alleged crimes, paving way for his immediate release however Prosecution did not mention whether they will appeal.
The accused was not in court when the verdict was read. He is expected to be released from Nyarugenge Prison.
