The fields of Mulindi exhibition grounds have turned into a meeting point for farmers, livestock keepers, entrepreneurs, and agricultural experts as Rwanda opens the 19th edition of the Agriculture and Livestock Exhibition, known as Agrishow 2026.

The ten-day event, running from July 22 to 31, is being held under the theme “Accelerating the Transformation of Agriculture and Livestock through Innovation and Collaboration.” It brings together farmers and businesses to explore how technology, investment, and new approaches can reshape the future of agriculture.

More than 600 local and international exhibitors are taking part this year, showcasing modern farming machinery, livestock equipment, improved technologies, and solutions aimed at increasing productivity across the sector.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, this year’s expo is expected to attract a much larger crowd, with organizers hoping to return to attendance levels of around 40,000 visitors recorded in previous editions after a quieter turnout last year.

The exhibition is open to the public free of charge, offering interactive learning spaces, demonstrations, and family activities alongside the commercial displays.

Opening the expo, the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Dr. Mark Cyubahiro Bagabe Ndabamenye, highlighted the central role agriculture and livestock continue to play in Rwanda’s economy and development.

“Agriculture and livestock remains the cornerstone of Rwanda’s food security and national development,” Dr. Bagabe said, noting that the sector contributes about 20 percent of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP)and provides raw materials for nearly 70 percent of Rwanda’s manufacturing industries.

He said the government remains committed to accelerating agricultural transformation through increased investment, technology adoption, and stronger partnerships between institutions and private sector players.

The minister encouraged farmers and agribusinesses to take advantage of the technologies and knowledge being showcased at the expo and apply them in their operations, particularly ahead of the upcoming 2027 Season A planting period.

Across the exhibition grounds, visitors are engaging with rural cooperatives, local agro-processors, equipment suppliers, and international companies offering specialized agricultural solutions.

Among the foreign exhibitors is Norbrook Laboratories, a global animal health company showcasing livestock medicines, including treatments for infections, parasites, and inflammation in cattle, sheep, and pigs, as well as healthcare products for companion animals.

With participation from districts across Rwanda and international suppliers of agricultural machinery and services, Agrishow 2026 is serving as both a learning platform for farmers and a marketplace connecting players across the growing agricultural value chain.
