Teachers who marked the national exams, have raised concerns over delayed payments for their role after completing their tasks in August.
In random interviews, many teachers have complained of delayed payment saying that the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) should explain to them why it is taking longer.
“We are waiting to receive the money we have worked for during the marking period. We finished marking on August 26, until today we have not received any penny yet it was a lot of work. We are still waiting” they complained.
The Director General of the National Agency for Examinations and Inspection of Schools, NESA, Dr Bahati Bernard, noted that in primary schools they have already paid and others have to be patient.
“Teachers who have marked the end of the primary examinations have received the pay, others are still waiting. The process of paying them will continue. They will also receive their pay in the coming days.” he pointed out.
According to sources, the teachers’ money will first be sent to the Ministry of Finance and Planning, which will provide it.
A total of 14,800 teachers took part in the marking exercises, 2,000 of them have already received over Rwf 912 million francs out of Rwf.5 billion that is to be paid in total.
