Following the withdrawal of the East Africa Regional Force (EAC force) from North Kivu, Major General Aphaxard Kiugu has expressed his concerns about the safety of people.

While in Goma during the meeting on the evaluation of the implementation of the exit plan of the EAC force from the DR-Congo. The Kenyan army general expressed concerns about the security of people and their properties in the territories of Rutshuru, Nyiragongo and Masisi.

On this subject, he also announced, very soon, the definitive closure of the headquarters of the regional force, located in North Kivu.

He considered that the EAC-RF was able to implement its mandate successfully, but the host country authorities decided otherwise.

After the withdrawal of Kenyan, Burundian and South Sudanese troops, the Ugandan contingent began to withdraw, since Wednesday, from Rutshuru territory by road via the Bunagana customs post.

This meeting was attended by the force of the EAC, the Joint Office of the three mechanisms in particular, that of ad hoc verification (AVM), extended joint verification of the ICGLR (EJVM) and monitoring and verification of the 39;EAC.

The mandate of the EAC force officially expired on December 8.
