Rayon Sports Football Club, has vehemently rejected the Rwandan Football Federation’s (FERWAFA) decision to reschedule their Peace Cup semi-final second leg against Mukura Victory Sports FC, asserting that they have already won the match 3-0 by forfeit due to the prior power outage and threatening to withdraw from the entire competition if the rules are not followed.
In a strongly worded statement released on the club’s official website on April 18, 2025, the club cited Article 38.3 of FERWAFA’s competition regulations.
According to Rayon interpretation, “This rule dictates that when a match is interrupted due to the fault of a team, the opposing team is awarded the victory, Rayon Sports wishes to clarify that according to Article 38.3 of the FERWAFA rules governing competitions, Rayon Sports won the match with a score of 3-0 (by forfeit),” the club declared in their statement.
Additionally, The club argues that the circumstances leading to the abandonment at Stade Huye on April 15th fall under this provision. “
“According to the rule governing competitions, if a team causes the interruption of a match, the opposing team is awarded victory.” Rayon noted in the announcement
Adding further fuel to the fire, Rayon Sports explicitly stated their unwillingness to to play the remarch pointing out. “If the rules governing competitions are not followed, Rayon Sport is not prepared to continue in the Peace Cup competition (2024-2025).”

The footballing community is now waiting with bated breath for FERWAFA’s official reaction. However, some fans have expressed thier concerns on local radio stations and social media calling it “drama.”
