The Kingdom of Morocco has recorded a 100% success rate of the 29 candidacies it submitted in 2020 to various international organizations for the third consecutive year

This historic record illustrates the credibility and confidence enjoyed by Moroccan multilateral diplomacy, under the High Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which is thus recognized as a driving force of multilateralism in the face of global challenges, said Tuesday a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans abroad.

In accordance with the Royal High Guidelines, Morocco has adopted a strategy aimed at strengthening its presence in various international and regional bodies and agencies through Moroccan candidates for institutional seats and positions of experts and high-level officials, it added.

This strategy turns candidacies to international organizations into a lever for the Kingdom’s influence and the visibility of its multilateral action, using all the expertise and the full range of Moroccan skills to serve multilateralism, the statement underlined, highlighting the fact that Morocco has made parity a priority for action for the various candidacies it has submitted.

This unprecedented feat was achieved through pragmatic, rational and proactive management that led to the success of all Morocco’s candidacies, in elections won hands down for mandates within the decision-making bodies and agencies of the United Nations System and within other international and regional organizations, the Ministry said.

Despite the global health situation related to COVID-19, which complicated several election processes, this result was made possible thanks to the tireless efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad and of the entire Moroccan diplomatic apparatus, in coordination with other Departments, read the statement.

These successive victories are also the result of intense diplomatic promotion campaigns conducted in favor of all Moroccan candidates and supported by the credibility of the recognized skills of the Kingdom’s candidates, either nationally, regionally, or internationally.

The election of the Kingdom, with very honorable scores, even by acclamation, to the most important positions in the multilateral system demonstrates the high consideration shown by the international community for the concrete, high-impact actions carried out by the Kingdom in accordance with the Royal Vision, and the expertise developed by Morocco, particularly in the areas of human rights and humanitarian action.

In the field of human rights and humanitarian action, the success of Morocco’s candidacies is a clear consecration of the irreversible choices of the Kingdom, which established the promotion of human rights and humanitarian solidarity as priorities of its national and international policy.

In accordance with the royal orientations, the Moroccan diplomacy is determined to continue the momentum of strengthening the kingdom’s presence in the multilateral system, whether in the form of institutional or personal candidacies.

The entire Moroccan diplomatic apparatus will remain mobilized for promoting the outreach of Morocco’s action in favor of a united and action-oriented multilateralism serving international peace, security and sustainable development, and fostering human rights, the ministry concluded.
