Turning the Wheels of Fortune; Light House Hotel is now a symbol of hospitality and big investment in the vicinity of Huye Districtís biggest urban forest Arboretum of Ruhande.
On the outskirts of Huye City center, along beautiful features that act as attractions and greenery along walkways, a well maintained and clean street leads you to Light House Hotel on the boundaries of Huye’s urban forest, Arboretum of Ruhande.
Light House Hotel is best known for its scenic spots of Arboretum forest, ëIbisi bya Huyeí mountains and other various historic features in Huye District. Some wild animals like monkeys and birds are common in the vicinity of the hotel.
Frank Murenzi, the Managing Director of the hotel says that this hospitality facility came as an answer to the areaís unpleasant history characterized by slum life with high crime and a neighborhood that had historical ties to the 1994 perpetrators of Genocide against the Tutsi.
According to Murenzi, also the President of Come and See Rwanda, a Christian based organization that owns the establishment, Light House Hotel was built in this specific area to bring hope to the community with a mission set to change the unpleasant history of such a beautiful neighborhood.
Like the traditional light house which signifies hope for safety, Light Houseís aim is to instigate a sense of hope in society and guarantee safety for everyone that uses the facility as well as for locals as seen in its efforts to facelift Mukoni suburb through influencing and improvinng livelihoods of the needy.
The suburban life in Mukoni had incubated crime, but its developments like Light House Hotel has positively expanded the cityís boundaries and has since changed to a whole new look that suits urban environment.
To achieve this, the hotel has closely worked with the District administration about development of the area and social activities like helping the needy.
Light House Hotel supports two important local initiatives: empowering female entrepreneurs through sustainable farming, and building houses for Huye families in need.
Some sections of the community have benefited from these social programs such as medical insurance cover while women groups were given land for agriculture and livestock farming to improve their livelihoods and social standing.
On the other hand, the hotel looks forward to supporting the districtís Football Club, Mukura FC in a move to solidify what identifies Huye to the rest of the world.
More so, Light House Hotel has always been of quality hospitable services to the District, at the same time offering high quality services to guests including room services, a restaurant with different African and international cuisines as well as extra facilities such as gym, massage and spa services.
