Gustave Niyonkuru, the Burundian tactician agreed to a six months contract with the rock bottom side Espoir FC that will face Gorilla FC in his first match in charge on Saturday.
The 38-year-old coach replaces Justin Bisengimana who left the Rusizi based club on mutual consent last month.
According to club president Vicent Twizeyimana, Niyonkuru is given the task to help the club perform well to avoid relegation.
“The task we gave him is to keep us in the First Division. He assured us that it is possible in the remaining 11 games.”Twizeyimana noted
Niyonkuru arrives at Rusizi well aware that Espoirs’ morale is at rock bottom in the midst of their struggle to avoid playing outside the top-flight next season.
He admits “There’s a big challenge ahead but one I’m ready for and want to take on. I’m looking forward to hopefully playing my part and realigning things,”
Espoir FC is at the bottom of the table with 11 points out of 19 games played.
