Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Wednesday appointed former Chief of Defence, Gen(Rtd) Charles Kayonga as Ambassador to Turkey.

Ambassador Charles Kayonga who recently retired from the military at the rank of Lieutenant-General, returns to diplomacy four years after he last served as Rwanda’s ambassador to China.

Formerly, he served as Chief of Defence Staff, held various military appointments and his key career highlights include top and strategic positions in Rwanda’s military from the liberation struggle.

Also, a statement of appointees included Marie Grace Nishimwe, who was named as the new Director General of the National Land Authority.

Nishimwe replaces Esperance Mukamana, who was relieved of her duties in August this year.
