Eastern Province based Premier League entity Bugesera FC has suffered a setback ahead of the final round of the 2022-2023 season with the resignation of their head coach Étienne Ndayiragije.
Burundian licensed football tactician is said to have tendered his resignation last week, before agreeing to terminate the contract with the club.
In a statement released by Bugesera FC management, the club states that together the parties have parted ways on mutual consent.
“By mutual agreement, the management of Bugesera FC and Coach Etienne Ndayiragije have terminated their employment contract. The team is being coached by the rest of the ‘technical staff’; while the club is looking for his replacement. Preparation for the playoffs continues.” The statement read.
The development comes after the reliable sources alleged that the Burundi tactician was planning to throw in his towel following the club failure to pay accumulated salary arrears for more than two months.
Ndayiragije joined Bugesera FC in January 2022; he replaced Abdou Mbarushimana who was sacked in April 2022 because of poor performance.
Bugesera FC has 18 points from 15 matches played thus far. They club has won five matches, drawn3and lost 7 games.
