In the midst of the turmoil in the local cycling body, the Rwandan Cycling Federation(Ferwacy), has released the dates for the 2024 Tour of Rwanda.

According to the announcement released by Ferwacy on Tuesday, October 10th, next year’s edition will start on Sunday February 18th, 2024 and continue through Sunday February 25th.

The 16th edition of the UCI2.1 Level Tour of Rwanda is delayed by a day, as compared to the 15th edition held this year when it began from February 19th-26th, due to wrack in the federation.

The release of the dates comes at the time when the cycling body has no president.

Abdallah Murenzi, the former president, stepped down last month. Also the first vice president Francios Karagwa resigned in September.

Karagwa is the second  official to resign in the cycling establishment in less than a month.

This week, the cycling body released a  list of candidates aspiring for the vacant positions.

Ladisala Ngendahimana is the only sole candidate standing for post of president.

Arlette Ruyonza from Nyabihu cycling team was standing for vice president position and Albert Bizimana from Muhazi cycling club was campaigning for secretary general.

According to Ferwacy constitution, any candidate standing for any position on the executive community must belong from a registered cycling club.

Interestingly, Ladisala Ngendahimana is not a member of any cycling club and members have refused to support him because he is not a member from any club.

The election is set to be held on October 21st, 2023.
