The third best student in advanced level is Anaise Marie Reginald Uwonakunze from Ecole de Science Byimana, located in Ruhango district in the Southern province.

The Minister of Education, Dr Valentine Uwamariya , said that 47,638 candidates sat for the advanced level exams this year. Of these, 40,435 passed the exams, an equivalency of 85.3 percent in the general performance while 6.964 students (14.7 percent) failed.

“Overall, the students have done well because when you look at the rate they have achieved it is not the same as in previous years,” he said.

In Educational Institutions (TTC), the success rate improved to 99.9 percent compared to 2019 when it was 98.2 percent. Dr Bahati Bernard, Director of the National Institute for Examinations and Inspection of Schools (NESA), explained that the basic score is determined based on the success of the children in various subjects.

Minister Dr Uwamariya said students who did not get basic grades were eligible to take the state exam as independent candidates.
