Cuba’s Communist Party and Rwanda’s Patriotic Front (FPR) on Wednesday signed a cooperation accord in Havana to expand bilateral links.
The document was penned by Cuban Communist Party organization secretary Roberto Morales and the Vice-President of RPF National Congress, Consolee Uwimana, who is on an official visit to Cuba.
Morales stressed that the instrument signed emphasized the role of party relations to foster government ties to make progress in the exchange of experiences for the creation of the system of political schools in Rwanda.
He thanked Rwanda for its support to the struggle against the blockade imposed by the United States and its rejection of the inclusion of Cuba in the unilateral list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
He indicated that the visit of RPF delegation will provide continuity to the issues discussed by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame, in the framework of the summit of the Group of 77 and China held last year in Havana.
During the meeting it was reported that a new reactivation of the medical cooperation program to which will also include a team of 40 Cuban health professionals arriving in Rwanda this week.
Uwimana highlighted the excellent level of bilateral relations, as well as the work of the Cuban medical collaboration present in Rwanda.
She detailed that in the last few months several agreements have been signed to strengthen relations in the fields of health and education.
Uwimana further noted that Rwanda-Cuba relations have marked 45 years and she added that such links are excellent and mutually beneficial.
