General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Uganda Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and President Museveni’s son, on Sunday arrived in Kigali to celebrate his 49th birthday.

Gen. Muhoozi is accompanied by Ugandan Ministers of Justice Norbert Mao and Minister of Interior Jim Muhwezi, some Ugandan members of parliament, investors and also close family members.

Flying on the Uganda Airlines flight, the General and his team were received by the Commander of the Rwanda Republican Guard, Maj. Gen. Willy Rwagasana, and the Rwanda Defence Forces spokesman, Brig. Gen. Ronald Rwivanga.

The main reason for the visit is to celebrate the 49th birthday of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba which will take place on April 24, 2023, reportedly an event organized by President Paul Kagame whom Muhozi considers as his uncle.

The visit to Rwanda comes following bridging relations between Rwanda and Uganda last year which its first anniversary was celebrated a few days ago at a concert in the town of Kabale in southwestern Uganda.

Celebrating his 48th birthday last year, President Kagame also attended the celebrations in Uganda at State House Entebbe in a ceremony hosted by Muhozi’s parents President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni.

The visit on April 24, 2022, came on the back of thawing relations between the two neighbours after a three-year standoff which ended after Muhozi’s negotiations with Rwanda on different visits to Kigali.
