The Rwanda Mountain Gorilla Rally will be officially flagged off on Friday 22 September 2023 at the BK ARENA KIGALI,
The year’s edition with counts for the 2023 Rwanda National Rally Championship and the 2023 African Rally Championship will be hosted in Kigali City in the eastern province of Bugesera district.
Unusually the race will start the same day by two qualifying stages at Kigali Convention Center from 15h 30 to 18h 30.
The event will resume on Saturday 23 September the entire day with the competitive tests in Bugesera districts before the final powerstages which concludes on Sunday 24 September in Bugesera district.
The podium ceremonies and prize giving will take place at BK ARENA on Sunday 24
And this year, with a bumper Rally1 entry, there will no doubt be plenty of action and drama at every turn.
Over 30 crews start the race but only 9 will be competing for ARC points with drivers like Queen Kalimpinya and Jean Claude Gakwaya attending to build up experience.
Kenya’s Karan Patel who won the event last year will be co-navigated by Tauseef Khan in the Ford Fiest R5.
Big players like three time Ugandan rally champion driver Jas Mangat and his co-driver French Escatefigue Jules will descend to Rwanda to collect the accolades since acquiring his Hyundai i20.
Uganda’s Yasin Nassar, currently ranked top of ARC standing with 78 points, will be co-navigated by Ali Katumba in the Ford Fiesta R5.
Uganda will also be represented by Innocent Bwamiki while cruising his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, Tanzania will be represented by Prince Clarles Nyerere.
An approximate of 348.18 Km will be covered in the three days of the race.
