Rabat: Mali is ready to strengthen dynamic and multifaceted cooperation ties with Morocco, said on Monday, October 11, 2021, in Rabat Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, welcoming the Kingdom’s constant support and understanding of the transition process in Mali.

Speaking at a press conference at the end of his talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, the head of Malian diplomacy said he was satisfied with the convergence of views between the two countries on the issues discussed with his counterpart and reassured of the Moroccan vision and perspective on the situation in Mali.

Diop also thanked “the Kingdom of Morocco for its support to Mali, a multiple support in terms of politics, cooperation and economic development,” noting that “Morocco is one of the countries that have one of the best reading of the situation in Mali”.

The Malian minister, in this sense, welcomed the diplomatic and political leadership of HM the King, especially in regional and international issues that contributes to peace, understanding and prosperity in the world.

Regarding the transition process in Mali, Diop noted that the authorities of his country hope “to be able to establish elected institutions through transparent and credible elections,” noting, however, the existence of difficulties and enormous challenges that require “everyone to make efforts to understand the situation”.

The Malian official focused on two “major problems”, namely security and securing the country and the holding of elections scheduled for next February but which faces “difficulties related to the choice of reforms”.

In addition, the Malian minister commended the “very visible and obvious” changes in Morocco, whether in terms of infrastructure, energy or agriculture, “areas that are experiencing significant progress and that we welcome”.

He also congratulated the Kingdom for the successful holding of the general elections on September 8, stressing that “this strengthens our pride in seeing democracy advance in Morocco.”
