Fuel prices at the pump have decreased following a significant reduction in the price of petroleum products on the international market, new prices will take effect this Tuesday evening.
In a statement released on Tuesday evening, the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) announced that the price of gasoline has dropped from 1,629 Rwandan Francs per liter to 1,574 Francs, marking a reduction of 55 Francs per liter. Diesel prices have also declined, falling by 76 Francs from 1,652 Francs per liter to 1,576 Francs.
The revised prices are set to remain in effect for the next two months, during which RURA has stipulated that gasoline should not exceed 1,574 Francs per liter, while diesel should not surpass 1,576 Francs per liter.
This price adjustment is primarily attributed to a decline in international petroleum prices, reflecting global market trends. RURA encourages the public to stay informed, as further price reviews will take place after the two-month period.
RURA’s announcement comes as a relief to consumers who have been grappling with rising fuel costs in recent months. The new pricing structure aims to provide stability in the petroleum market and support the economic well-being of Rwandans.
