Former Director General of Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA) Jean-Bosco Harelimana was on Friday arrested and detained by police according to Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB).
RIB says that Harelimanal, who was relieved of his duties in January by the Prime Minister’s office, was under investigation for crimes related to defying public tender procedures.
This week, the Parliament Public Accounts Committee (PAC) expressed concern after the former director failed to show up for a scheduled hearing to answer queries concerning the Auditor General report for 2021/22.
“RIB did not arrest him for failing to appear before PAC because, it is not a criminal offence but rather he has been under investigation allegdeling for mismanagement and misuse of public resources which were committed during his tenure.” He affirmed adding that he they’re concerned that he could be a flight risk.
