The Rwanda Boxing Federations (RBF) has confirmed that the annual National Boxing Championship 2022 will be held at Rafiki Sports center.
The two-day event sanctioned by the RBF will tip off on December 23, 2022, with the elimination category before the final on December 25, 2022, at Rafiki Clubs Sports Center Nyamirambo.
The national boxing federation president Vicky Kalisa says that they expect a huge turn up of more than 130 athletes from different weight division’s from14 registered boxing clubs.
“The elimination will have 120 boxers (male and female) participating in 60 fights. Then action will continue with 30 best performers facing off to decide the last 15 who will advance to the final,” He explained.
This year, RBF organized five boxing competitions, and the president says that they were honoured by just how many athletes are ready for the bell to ring at the last major tournament of the year.
“The aim of event is to identify, groom and offer a chance as well as support boxers both male and female to a level where they can represent the country both at regional and international competitions,” He points out
“We intend to test skills and levels of boxers from different clubs and to engage different stakeholders such as promoters and sponsors” he adds.
According to RBF, all boxers have to weight in a day before they punch furiously on December 22, 2022.
Both winners at the individual and club level will be awarded with medals and trophies by the invited guests.
