The sixth edition of Women Deliver Conference, the world’s largest multi-sectoral gathering to advance gender equality has started today in Kigali.
Inclusive and co-created spaces that foster solidarity for sustainable solutions on gender equality are high on the agenda of this conference.
Commenting on Rwanda hosting the conference Rwanda Development Board (RDB) CEO, Clare Akamanzi said, “I’m excited to welcome many delegates in Kigali this week, as they participate in the Women Deliver Conference. This is even more so, because the topic of gender equality and advancement is close to our country.”
The conference that will end July20 has attracted about 6,000 participants including high profile world leaders, women’s human rights activists and members of the academia.
“Women Deliver Conference is a space to share experience, celebrate achievements, learn from others and networking,” says Aisha Uwase, the SRHR & Girls Ambassador at YWCA Rwanda.
President Novák of Hungary who’s among the participants yesterday laid a wreath at the Kigali Genocide Memorial to honour the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and said:
“You cannot understand the present and future of Rwanda without being confronted with its past.”

We’re thrilled to welcome extraordinary leaders, change-makers and advocates from around the world to amplify the voices of women and girls,” said ministry of gender (MIGEPROF) through its official twitter handle.
